2014 Course Information

I am excited to announce the classes, schedule and locations for this year’s Texas Bail Bond Course. Like last year, all of these courses will be taught as an advanced course, with team teaching both days.

We will continue to cover recurring issues concerning the Bail Bond Act (Chapter 1704 of the Occupations Code), Chapter 17 of the Code of Criminal Procedure concerning the writing of and surrendering of bail, and Chapter 22 of the Code of Criminal Procedure concerning the forfeiture of bail.

Many of you wanted more information about using technology so we have once again included a presentation that we call “"Using the Internet to Manage Risk." Because prior attendees have asked for more in-depth coverage, this will be a three-hour team taught presentation that will include an exploration of how you can use internet tools to help you evaluate risk, help you monitor defendant behavior while on bond, how you can get early warnings about defendants beginning to get shaky, how to find skips and also to communicate with your clients. It will also include live demonstrations of how to become a member of social networking sites, as well as how to use them for your bail bond business, and it will include information about other useful websites you should know about.

I look forward to seeing you at this year’s courses.

Roger Moore,
Course Director
